*LEHIGHTON AREA ADULT SOCCER LEAGUE RULES AND REGULATIONS*

League Play
All Lehighton area adult soccer-League (LAASL) games will follow the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) rules. In addition to the FIFA rules, the following lists of rules apply to the LAASL. These rules supercede the FIFA rules where applicable.
Player Responsibilities
All players must read and comply with the rules. Please read them carefully.
Each player must have complete understanding that they are playing at their own risk and assumes complete responsibility for themselves. Laasl will not be held accountable for an injury before, during or after the game.

Players must comply with all municipal ordinances at the field and surrounding areas. Your cooperation will ensure our continued ability to rent fields for our league.
Captain's Responsibilities
The team captain must choose a team color and name.
The team captain must complete a Team Roster form. Roster must contain a minimum of eleven players and a maximum of twenty. If eleven players can not fill roster, players from other teams can fill in.

The team captain must designate a Co-Captain who will help lead the team and take over in the event of an absence of the team captain.
Team captains are responsible for the conduct and play of their teams.
Team captains must report problems with fields or referees to the league coordinator.
Team captains must report scores to the league coordinator as soon as possible after the games.
Team captains must report all incidents (Red, Yellow Cards, Fights, etc) to the league coordinators. Fighting will result in automatic ban from the league. It will not be tolerated.

League Equipment

*The league does not furnish a game ball. It is responsibility of the teams playing to provide a ball that is suitable for play.
*The league will do it's best to provide a referee free of charge, however without a registration fee for our first season this may not be possible. A small fee from each team may apply in order to pay for referee.

Your team captain will be informed of the fee in advance. If a referee can-not be provided all teams agree to play using the honor system, same as during a pick-up game. If this will be the case only team captains and co-captains will dispute and agree on call effecting game play. This is to keep order on the field.
Equipment & Players
No jewelry may be worn during the games.
All team members must wear matching colored jerseys, except the goalkeeper, who will wear a jersey that distinguishes him or her from other players and the referees.
Shin Guards must be worn during the games.

Pre-Game
Seven (7) players per team are required to start a game.
If a team cannot field at least 7 players at the start of the game, they must offer a forfeit. The opposing team can either accept the forfeit and play, accept the forfeit and leave, or choose to "play for keeps" anyway.

After the game has started, the game may continue as long as there are at least 7 players per team, otherwise the game must be forfeited.

Teams playing with non-registered players will forfeit the game. Registration is simply giving your personal info and e mail to the league. Before each game, the captains have the responsibility to ensure that all players are eligible to play. Captains please obtain phone numbers of your players. An e mail is easy to ignore, a phone call makes a player accountable to his team.
Until the rosters are finalized, both captains are responsible for providing the head referee with the current team roster before the game. After the rosters are frozen, the referees should have the final roster of each team.

Opposing captains have the right to review and challenge the roster provided to the head official.
If we can not fill rosters, players from other teams may fill in and play if they choose to. we may have to help each other out this our first season. So it will be allowed for players to play in multiple games if need be, until all rosters are filled.

Game Play
Slide tackling that involves another player is NOT allowed. Slide tackling to gain control of the ball is allowed when no other players are involved. Remember we all must go to work on Monday's. Let's play safe!
The team with possession of the ball may make unlimited substitutions after notifying the referee, whenever there is a stop in play. The team that does not have possession of the ball may make unlimited substitutions when play stops and the other team makes substitutions. Both teams may make unlimited substitutions at half time, and during other long delays of the game provided they notify the referee. We want all players to play. The referee must be notified of any substitutions of the goalkeeper.

Unsportsmanlike conduct including, but not limited to, profanity, racism, violence, etc. will NOT be tolerated before, during, or after games. Offenders will be ejected from the game and expulsion from the league. Again, we want this to be fun.
Any player or captain who receives 2 yellow cards or 1 red card during a game is ejected from that game. Any player ejected from a game is considered suspended from play and must abide to the following:

If suspended player is allowed to play, this must be agreed upon opposing team's captain.
All spectators must remain off the field. If a spectator is abusive in actions or language they will be asked to leave the premises. Failure to leave will result in the forfeiture of the game by their team.
No smoking or alcoholic beverages are allowed before or during league games.
All players must abide by the rules in place for the designated game location.
The field providers will not accept any responsibility for lost or stolen item, nor are they responsible for accidents or insurance of any type. You play at your own risk.

The point system is as follows:
Win: 3 points
Tie: 1 point
Loss: 0 points
Playoffs:

The 2 teams with the most points will compete for 1st place ( league championship) The bottom 2 teams will compete for 3rd and 4Th place.
If teams have the same number of points at the end of the regular season, the following tie-breaker rules will be applied in order of the following:
Number of points (not goals) obtained in the matches between the teams concerned.
Goal difference resulting from the matches between the teams concerned.
Greater number of goals scored in the matches between the teams concerned.
Greater number of goals scored in all league games.
Championship game will not end in tie. If there is a tie after regulation time has expired, one 10 minute golden goal period will be played. If the game is still tied after this period, shoot-outs will occur, with each team selecting 5 players to each take one PK a piece. This format of shoot-outs will continue until one team is declared the winner.

All team captains have the right to add/dispute league rules. It's your league, your voice will always be heard.

Getting ready for the season..October 2008

Buying the right Turf Soccer Cleats will not only result in a better player; they will prevent foot injuries, which can all too often ruin a soccer player's enjoyment of the game. Soccer cleats should fit closely. Too-big soccer footwear, like shoes everywhere, will slip and rub, causing blisters and affecting stance and balance.
When you measure soccer cleats adult players, the wearer's toe should not press against the end of the shoe, but should come within the width of a thumb when the wearer is standing.
If you're planning to buy popular Nike, Adidas, Puma or Lotto soccer footwear and other soccer gear, start shopping in the summer, before soccer season really starts. Spending a lot of money on soccer shoes may not be justifiable. As long as they fit well, meet the team regulations, and provide support, you can get away with spending less money.
The soles of your cleats should be rubber, and it's best to buy regulation soccer shoes, since other sports footwear are not allowed in soccer. Like shoes womens' cleats will tend to be narrower mens': women with wider feet may find men's cleats fit their feet better. On the other hand, (or foot), men with narrow feet may find that women's cleats fit them better without in any way diminishing their masculinity! Don't let silly marketing ploys con you into buying soccer cleats that don't fit you properly when the perfect size is the next aisle over.
When trying on soccer cleats, wear them with the socks and shin guards that will be used in practice and at games. It's important to feel the way each item matches its fit with the others.
For beginning soccer players who don't have grand notions, synthetic uppers with rubber soles (Nike, Adidas, Lotto and Puma offer several styles and price ranges) will do just fine, preventing the problems other players will have with leather shoes. Leather uppers can become stiff and out of shape if they get wet and are improperly dried: synthetics tend to be more forgiving. If your cleats to get wet, stuff them with newspaper and let them dry naturally, without added heat.
If you are playing indoors, or in a gym, you may decide to use sneakers or cross-trainers for soccer. They should be stable, without built-up soles or heels, and they should have rubber soles for adequate traction on smooth floors.
Soccer shoes that fit right enhance the enjoyment of the game as well as the skill level of the player. Take the extra time and energy to find the best soccer shoes for your feet and the conditions under which you are playing.

LEAGUES FIRST PICK-UP/SCRIMMAGE....a big turn out!!!! Team captains named.

On Saturday Aug, 23rd 2008 we had our first informal pick-up game/scrimmage. This was the first time many of the league's players from all four teams met.

A big step in the forward direction for a league that is in it's infancy and gearing up for our Fall kickoff in October.

This was achieved with over twenty two players showing up and playing nearly 70 min of soccer. We are in the final stages of filling rosters and ironing out last minute details

BLUE/WHITE GAME.....08/23/2008

To all players,

The league's first "get together" pick up/scrimmage game will be this Saturday (8/23), 12 noon, at the Chapel Soccer Field located at the corner of Rt. 443 and Fritz Valley Road in Lehighton (i.e. "Normal Square"). All players interested are encouraged to join us. This game will combine players from all teams- Tamaqua, Palmerton, Jim Thorpe, Lehighton.

We need each player to come prepared with one navy/dark blue shirt and one white shirt. We will divide players up before the game into blue vs. white teams. We will play two 40 min. halves. Again, I want to stress that this is an informal event intended for players of all skill levels to meet and practice before the season officially begins in October.

We have received many inquiries and emails expressing interest in the league. I have contacted the majority of you in response to those. However, in regard to Saturday's game, I need each player to contact me ASAP with an RSVP, whether you plan to attend or not, so that we may prepare ourselves better. ZIMMERMANS DAIRY/LIONS CLUB DONATE FIELD TO LAASL

As of this morning we have secured our first field. Thanks to Zimmerman's dairy and the Lion's club. They have granted LAASL the use of Chapel soccer field ( not the Zion's church field ). Located just off Rt. 443 in Lehighton at the Normal square intersection, on fritz valley Rd. I visited the field this morning and it is in excellent condition.

This will be the location of our scrimmage/pick-up game this Saturday the 23rd at 12:00pm. For all players. For more info contact me at laasl@mail.com once again I need all players who will be attending to let me know, this is a great opportunity to shake the rust off.

UPDATE!!

We are currently arranging a pick/up game for this Saturday the 23rd for 12:00pm for all those interested. The game is tentatively going to be played at chapel Soccer field Off of Rt 443 in Normal square and fritz valley Rd. (mahoning Valley. ) We are working on an alternate field if needed.

This will be the first time for many of you who have responded to play soccer in some time. So remember your skill level and fitness is not what this game is about. It will mainly be about meeting allot of the other players and having a good time as well as shaking off some rust. Please invite a friend, all are welcome.

We will also begin to place players on teams based on your hometown, this week. You will be notified by e mail. Once again we still need two coach/captains for two teams. Experience isn't important just organization skill and the willingness to guide your team. Anyone who is willing to step up would help our developing league tremendously.

LAASL UPDATE/NEWS Saturday, Aug 16th 2008

Thank you for your interest in this newly forming adult soccer league. We are literally in our infancy and taking the steps necessary to fill the rosters on all teams. I am happy to report in the past few days I have received many requests to join our league. Our website has had 106 hits Saturday alone. From the beginning I will tell you that this is our league, the players make the teams and the teams will make the league successful.

If all goes well we will begin the fall 2008 season on Saturday October 4Th, and play eight weeks with a championship game ending the season. I hope to have scrimmage and pick up games in the weeks leading up to the season opener for all interested. Understand this is the format for this year only. Next year we will play a longer season beginning in late Aug 2009. We may also have a summer league starting in late April 2009. So a lot to get excited about.

It is important to understand this league is open to players of all skill levels and even those with none. So please if you know of a friend or anyone who you think may want to join, please encourage them to contact us. At this point we are still promoting LAASL in hopes of recruiting more players and this is the reason for the late start to our season. I am in need of captains for the following teams: Palmerton push and Jim Thorpe F.C... these two captains have since given up the spot. All captains will be responsible for recruiting players, creating uniforms and managing their teams. If interested please contact me.

You will notice for this first season we will not charge any player or team a registration fee ( field, ref, uniform costs .) At this time local businesses are being approached to sponsor teams and I will keep all captains updated on this. So at this time what I need is for each of you to send me your age, the town you live in ( so you can be placed on a team ) and position you can/would like to play. I will forward all this to your team captain who will then contact you. I am the captain of Lehighton United with Scott Urland as our co-captain.

Field/fields location is still being worked on. I can tell you I am working to keep it centrally located for everyone. You will be updated with all news of the league throughout the coming weeks leading up to the fall season. Details about Individual / Free Agent Registration / New Team Registration

The Lehighton area adult soccer league is being formed for the Fall 2008 season. We are providing a fun yet competitive league for adults in the carbon county and surrounding areas. If you would like to be placed on the same team with another individual please indicate this. Please accurately list your skill level (Beginner, Intermediate, or Expert). This league is open to all skill levels. Indicate your preferred position (Goalie, MidFielder, Defense, etc) so we can evenly distribute players on each Free Agent team.
We need two (2) volunteers to be the Captain and Co-Captain of each Free Agent team, so if you're interested, please indicate this. Each Free Agent team will need a team name and shirt color, so get creative and have a few ideas ready to suggest to your new team. At the current time we have four teams participating. If you would like to be placed on one of these teams please indicate this and we will check roster availability.
